Two-day journey through Oman’s cultural legacy with a visit to Nizwa Fort and Souq, where ancient history connects with vibrant markets. Our adventure follows to the scenic village of Birkat Al Mouz and the majestic Jebel Akhdar, where lush landscapes and mountainous views combine for a memorable journey through heritage and natural beauty. Besides rich customs of Nizwa region, we will explore its beautiful nature, with mesmerizing Al Hoota cave and do short hikes on Jebel Shams, known as the Grand Canyon of Arabia.
DAY 01 – Al Hoota Cave and Beyond: A Journey through Oman’s Natural Wonders
08:00 AM Al Hoota Cave (1 hr)
Our day starts in Al Hoota Cave, unique due to its remarkable geological formations, and featuring an extensive network of stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over centuries, providing visitors with a captivating glimpse into Oman’s geological history. Additionally, the cave offers a well-lit and informative tour, making it an accessible and educational experience for those intrigued by the subterranean wonders of the region.
09:20 AM Al Hamra Old Town and Bait al Safah Living Museum (1 hr)
Al Hamra is a historic village in Oman, known for its traditional mud-brick houses and narrow pathways. Within the labyrinth of old houses surrounded by an oasis, hides 400-year old mansion, turned into an authentic museum, locally known as Bait al Safah. This traditional house offers an opportunity to witness authentic Omani crafts, folklore, and see the process of making coffee, bread and date products. It’s one of the best museums for understanding the customs and traditions of the region.
10:40 AM Misfat Al Abriyeen (1.5 hr)
Misfat Al Abriyeen stands out for its distinctive charm as a traditional Omani mountain village, characterized by its ancient mud-brick buildings, labyrinthine alleys, and terraced landscapes carved into the mountain slopes, providing visitors with an authentic and culturally rich experience amidst the stunning backdrop of the Jebel Shams mountain range.
1:30 PM – 5:00 PM Jebel Shams (3-4 hrs)
Jebel Shams is the highest mountain in Oman, renowned for its awe-inspiring landscapes that include the impressive Wadi Ghul, often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of Oman,” offering breathtaking vistas, rugged cliffs, and a trekking experience that combines trails with stunning natural beauty, making it a distinctive destination for adventure seekers and nature enthusiasts alike. We can do either shorter or longer trek, depending on your fitness level.

DAY 02 – Back in Time: Into the Heart of Nizwa
06:30 AM Nizwa Souq (1 hr)
Our second day starts early, in Nizwa Souk, nestled in the heart of Oman, where bustling traditional market attracts visitors in a vibrant cultural experience with its diverse collection of handicrafts, spices, and local produce. Every Friday, the market comes alive as a bustling hub of activities, as local farmers and traders gather to buy and sell goats.
08:00 AM Nizwa Fort (1 hr)
Nizwa Fort, a unique historic stronghold in Oman, stands as a magnificent testament to ancient architecture, offering panoramic views of the city and a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural and military heritage.
09:20 AM Birkat Al Mouz Village (1 hr)
Old village Birkat Al Mouz, surrounded by lush date plantations, provides a serene oasis where visitors can explore traditional (UNESCO listed) irrigation systems, experience the beauty of date cultivation, and immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of Oman.
11:30 AM – 4:00 PM Jebel Akhdar (4.5 hr)
Trip continues with exhilarating journey along winding roads from Wadi Al Madeen to Jabal Akhdar, reveling in the picturesque scenery. During the seasonal bloom, witness the renowned Jabal Al Akhdar roses, then hike through an old abandoned village, exploring fruit orchards, natural springs, the aflaj irrigation system, and enjoying breathtaking mountain views.
