Day 1 Introduction into Muscat Cultural Scene

We start our cultural journey in Muscat, Oman’s capital with the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a stunning architectural masterpiece. We get our introduction into the art scene at Alia Gallery and Stal Gallery, each offering a unique perspective on contemporary Omani and international art through thought-provoking exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events, providing enriching experiences that celebrate creativity in the heart of the city. Then, we will learn about Oman’s history at the National Museum, showcasing artifacts from ancient times to the present. We conclude our day with a visit to the imposing Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts, overlooking the Gulf of Oman.

Day 2 Historical Marvels of Nizwa

We will venture to Nizwa, once the capital of Oman, and marvel at its imposing Nizwa Fort, a bastion of ancient defense. We will explore the vibrant atmosphere of the Nizwa Souq, where traders have bartered for centuries. After a short ride away, we will enrich your understanding of Oman’s ancient water management at Birkat al Mouz, a UNESCO-listed site renowned for its delicate falaj irrigation system. Saving the best for the end of the day, Oman Across the Ages Museum stands out for its comprehensive portrayal of Oman’s rich history and culture, offering a captivating journey through time from ancient civilizations to modern-day Oman, showcasing artifacts, interactive exhibits, and multimedia displays.

Day 3 UNESCO Treasures: Bahla Fort and Ancient Settlements of Bat and Al Ayn

We will embark on a journey to the Jabrin Castle, an exquisite example of Omani architecture, to gain insight into the country’s medieval past. We will continue our journey to the historic town of Bahla, home to the UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort, an emblem of Omani craftsmanship and fortification. We will wander through the labyrinthine streets of its old quarter, absorbing the ambiance of bygone eras. After that, we continue our drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Bat and Al Ayn, where ancient tombs and settlements provide insights into Oman’s prehistoric past.

Day 4 Oasis Serenity: Exploring Al Hamra and Bait Al Safah

Our fourth day begins with a journey to Al Hamra, a serene oasis town framed by Oman’s rugged mountains. We will explore the ancient mud-brick houses and immerse ourselves in the traditional culture at Bait Al Safah, a living museum, the highlight of our tour. In the afternoon hours, we continue to Misfat Al Abriyeen, perched on a canyon’s edge, where terraced fields and ancient irrigation channels offer glimpses into Oman’s agricultural heritage. Marvel at the village’s panoramic views, capturing the timeless beauty of Oman’s mountain villages.

Day 5 Maritime Marvels: Exploring Sur's Seafaring Heritage

We head south to the coastal town of Sur, renowned for its maritime heritage and dhow-building tradition. Here, we will visit the Sur Maritime Museum to learn about Oman’s seafaring history and the vital role of dhows in trade and exploration, have a boat ride and enjoy the atmosphere with a lunch at local restaurant. Not far from here, we will stop to explore the ruins of the ancient city of Qalhat, once a bustling port on the maritime Silk Road and today listed as one of the UNESCO sites.

Day 6 Fortified Treasures: Delving into Oman's Castle Legacy

We are embarking on a cultural expedition to explore Oman’s rich architectural heritage, beginning with a visit to the historic Nakhal Castle, perched atop a rocky hill. We continue our journey to Al Hazm Castle, a splendid example of Omani fortification, with a labyrinth of chambers, nestled amid the rugged landscape. Our castle exploration concludes with a visit to the majestic Rustaq Castle, renowned for its delicate design and craftsmanship. At the end of the day, we will head back to Muscat, at Art & Soul in the Waterfront, where we will discover a vibrant cultural space, offering a fusion of art, music, and gastronomy, in a dynamic atmosphere enriched by exhibitions, live performances, and culinary delights, one unique and unforgettable experience by the sea.

Day 7 Art and Heritage: Bait Al Zubair Museum and Gallery Sarah

Bait Muzna Gallery across the street shows contemporary Omani and international art. We conclude our final day by strolling through the tranquil gardens of the Royal Opera House Muscat, and visiting the majestic interior, before bidding farewell to Oman’s vibrant culture and timeless traditions..
