Legend has it that the sinkhole was created when an asteroid struck the flat, arid plain that separates the ocean from the craggy peaks of the Al Hajar Mountains. This widely held belief is reflected in the Arab name for the park that Bimmah Sinkhole is part of. Locals know it as Hawaiyat Najm, which can be translated as “the deep well of the falling star”. Hawaiyat Najm is a large hole in the Earth crust filled with fresh water It is an impressive location with a giant hole, turquoise waters, the sea on one side, and the mountains on the other side.
Wadi Shab is the most popular wadi of Oman. The narrow canyon is home to crystal clear blue water pools and a secret waterfall inside a cave. Freshwater cascading from tops of the mountains meet sea water on its banks, creating an environmental diversity, making it stand on a pedestal of its own when compared with the other wadis in Oman .
